A Mermaid, A Seat, A Lamp, A Friend And A Moment

From the castle Grotto on February 23rd. It's one of those shots where I really applaud what the PhotoPass photographer did technique-wise.

I had come from dinner at Akershus and was wondering why Ariel wasn't there - though I expected it was for a good reason. She explained she got carried away looking for new treasures with Flounder, and I said that I could understand and assured her that there were many humans who could get carried away with something just as easily. At this point, the photographer went to his left and picked out this angle - just the seat, a lamp, and the two of us looking at each other with Ariel's smile visible.

I think this shot speaks a lot to what makes meeting Ariel in mermaid form special - Ariel invites people to take a seat alongside her and for a few moments, all troubles fall away and they - or, should I say, we - get to just shoot the breeze with a lady who's a Princess but acts more like a girl who's as happy to meet us as we are to meet her.
